Thijs Mauve (1915–1996)

The painter, draughtsman, water-colourist and graphic designer was a grandson of Anton Mauve. Evidently painting was in the blood. Thijs did not want to follow in the footsteps of his famous grandfather, but he had his own tranquil style of working. Landscapes were his favorite subjects. For a long time he lived and worked in Lunteren on the Veluwe. This autumn woodland that he has left to us is a particularly fine work.
